Prepare detailed report, PC to SHDDC

A 20-member delegation of Sadar Hills Districthood Demand Committee (SHDDC) met Union Home Minister P Chidambaram today afternoon at his office.
Talking to mediapersons after the meeting, general Secretary of SHDDC Tonghen Kipgen observed that 'this is a preliminary , we will meet again in a couple of days' .
Patiently hearing them out, the Union Home Minister asked the SHDDC team to prepare a detailed information on and about Sadar Hills, their demands and grievances.
Accordingly, a memorandum had been submitted from the side of SHDDC to the Union Home Minister.
In the memorandum submitted, the SHDDC pointed out that according to the Manipur (Hill Areas) District Council Act, 1971 passed by the Parliament, six Autonomous District Councils have been created, of which Sadar Hills is one of them.

The Autonomous District Councils have been created with the intention that all will eventually be upgraded to full fledged districts.
All the other five ADCs have been converted / upgraded, whereas Sadar Hills still continues to remain under Senapati district.
The memorandum requested the Union Home Minister to intervene and give appropriate direction to the Government of Manipur for immediate implementation of the Manipur ( Hill Areas ) Autonomous District Council Act 1971 to upgrade Sadar Hills to the status of a full fledged district.
