World Bank and Asian Development Bank eye State roads

With the end of military rule in Myanmar, World Bank as well as Asian Development Bank (ADB) have shown keen interest in enhancing road connectivity with and through Manipur.
A senior officer informed The Sangai Express that ADB is keen on developing Imphal-Moreh and Imphal-Jiribam highways in sync with India's Look East Policy.
On the other hand, World Bank is considering construction of a trilateral Asian highway through Manipur.
A team of ADB officials visited Manipur a few days back and assessed Imphal-Moreh and Imphal-Jiribam highways for ex- pansion and improvement.
At present, ADB is undertaking a technical survey of both the highways.
On the other hand, a team of World Bank officials is scheduled to arrive here on May 21 in connection with construction of a trilateral highway which would connect India, Myanmar and Thailand through Manipur.
A delegation of the Japan International Corporation visited Imphal a couple of days back and assessed the law and order situation for taking up Sericulture Project and a water supply project.
