A three-day North East Literature Festival 2010 for the Manipuri writers in the north eastern region of the country began today at the State Guest House, Sanjenthong.
The inaugural function of the fectival organised by the Leimaron Khorjeikol (Leikon), Imphal was graced by president of the Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Assam, Leitonjam Nilamani as chief guest and director of state art and culture, Ksh Sorojini as president.
Sahitya Academy award winner, Elangbam Sonamani attended as guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, Nilamani said that Manipuri literature is among the most popular literatures in the north eastern region having its own scripts, definite structures.
Unfortunately, apprehension is around here when youths of today amalgamate with western cultures in speaking forgetting that long survival of own culture lies with the preservation of own language and culture.
