Ukhrul, March 26 2010:
In connection with the erratic supply of electricity at the district headquarters, Public Utility Services Redress Forum (PUSRF) has submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner here today.
After submitting the memorandum, the convenor of PUSRF, Tennoson Pheirei told The Sangai Express that the public of the district have been waiting for redressal of their grievances faced since many weeks back as a result of erratic power supply at the district headquarters.
Highlighting the grievances, Tennoson said power supply has become so erratic that most of the time we do not see the lights for three to four consecutive days.
PUSRF in its memorandum stated that the erratic supply of electricity at the district headquarters has created immense inconveniences to the citizens that the non adherence to the guidelines and norms issued by the system control, division electricity department of Manipur has intensely irritated the public at large.
The memo alleged that failure to even provide 11 electricity poles and aluminium conductor wire of 2km long to the victims of the Wino Bazaar Inferno 2009 is a clear indication of the State Electricity Department's apathy towards redressing the grievances of the hill people.
The forum has appealed the authority concerned to look into the mater at the earliest with all seriousness in the interest of public to ensure peace and harmony at the district headquarters.
Meanwhile, Ukhrul Students' Union (HKL) has taken serious note of the physical assault of a Government officer who is working under DC Office Ukhrul.
Terming such atrocities as 'uncivilised goondaism' the student body stated that the incident in which Research Assistant in planing department was beaten up by some unidentified miscreants last Sunday without any reason behind it is condemnable by everyone in the strongest term and urged all concerned not to repeat such unfortunate act in future.
