The two gay couple who had tied the nuptial knot was separated Friday following a complaint registered by the bride's parents to the Kakwa police station in Imphal,
The gay couple got married Thursday which lasted for only a day.
Both the gays identified as Sandip Soibam (26) was reportedly the bridegroom and Nikhil Sharma Hidangmayum (28, transgender) was the bride.
Both of them hailed from Imphal East district.
Sandip Soibam's parents had registered a complaint to the Kakwa police station that led to the arrest of the two gays the next day of their marriage.
However, Nikhil Sharma Hidangmayum (bride) has reportedly asked alimony from Sandip Soibam following their separation.
It is worth mentioning that that the bride soon after the marriage had stated that such practice should be accepted by the society so as to reduce the increasing anti-social activities such as indulging in the intoxicants like drugs, alcohol etc.
It may be recalled that the Delhi High Court had legalized gay marriage July last.
