Water sports fest

Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Association (MMTA) has announced that it will be organising a 10 day long Youth Adventure and Water Sports Festival from December 27 to January 5 next year.
Speaking to media persons at MMTA office today, its president Bijoy Kakchingtabam stated that earlier the festival was organised as a part of the Manipur Sangai Festival but it was not included in the recently Sangai festival due to some unavoidable circumstances.
He then announced that the 1st edition of the 10 days long Youth Adventure and Water Sports Festival will be organized by MMTA as a part of the 34th foundation day celebration of the Manipur Mountaineering Institute.
He informed that the inaugural function will be held at Lamdan MMI complex and the festival will be held with similar features/attractions as those which were witnessed during Manipur Sangai Festival in the past.
Water sports will be held at Ningthoukhong Canal and they will include local boat races, rafting, water surfing, motor boating and other allied activities.
As a part of the festival, trekking, climbing the highest peak of Manipur Mt Iso and Dzuko at Senapati, with 50 participants, Tamenglong Tharon cave expedition, trekking to Khoupum valley and Zeilad Lake, exploration of Kangkhui cave, Shirui trekking in Ukhrul district, trekking to Leimaton peak etc will be organised.
He then appealed to the people to come and participate in the festival and explained that during the festival, entry inside the Manipur Mountaineering Institute will be free.
