Short term course on Meitei Mayek kick starts

DM College of Arts, Dhanamanjuri University under the sponsorship of Directorate of University & Higher Education, GoM, kicked off a seven days short term course on Meitei Mayek in Higher Education at department today.
Retired Additional Director, Directorate of University & Higher Education AK Sharma, Principal, DM College of Arts, DMU Dr Chungkham Sheelaramani and Head of Philosophy Department, DMCA Dr Kh Gokulchandra attended the function as dignitaries.
Speaking at the function, Dr Kh Gokulchandra maintained that the movement of Meitei Mayek started in the State ten years ago and now, the script is being learned and taught to the graduation level.
However, the present generation/ students are facing numerous inconveniences while learning and using Meitei Mayek as every old script or books or literature have been written in Bengali.
On the other hand, teachers are also learning the newly introduced script as they had learned Bengali in their earlier days.
As such, the short term course has been organised to deliberate about such problems in which 61 teachers from colleges and universities are participating.
Folklore gi Taibangda, a book written in both Meitei Mayek and Bengali by Sadananda Mayanglambam was released as part of the function.
