Drugs worth over Rs 1 Cr seized

Tengnoupal, December 24 2019:
Troops of Assam Rifles, under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South), recovered contraband drugs worth Rs 1.21 crore at Tengnoupal check post yesterday.
A statement issued by IGAR (South) conveyed that Assam Rifles stopped a suspicious silver coloured Maruti Van travelling from Moreh towards Imphal and on carrying a thorough check of the vehicle the AR troops found 45 packets of suspected Brown Sugar (weighing approximately 607 grams) valued at more than Rs 1.21 crore inside the vehicle.

The drug was found hidden in the handbags of lady passengers aboard the vehicle who were identified as Hatneilhing Singson (18) and Hoikholhing (35) .
The two individuals, along with the recovered contraband drugs, were handed over to Tengnoupal PS for further investigation.
