AR celebrates Christmas with children

Mantripukhri Battalion of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) celebrated Christmas with children of Tabitha Children Home today.
The event commenced with melodious Christmas carols sung by children along with prayers for peace and harmony in Manipur, said a statement of the PRO IGAR (South) .
As part of the event, a gift distribution ceremony was conducted by Assam Rifles in which sports equipments, stationery items and utility hampers containing daily use items and eatables were given to the children.
The children home was assured of every possible help in future to make the place a beautiful 'home away from home.' The programme concluded with Christmas cake cutting.
Similarly, Moreh Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles celebrated Christmas at border village Chongjhang today.
The event commenced in the morning with a welcome speech by the Company Commander to convey the wishes of Christmas to all the villagers.
People from the village sang songs and enjoyed dancing on the traditional tunes and Christmas rhymes.
Sweets and balloons were also distributed to the children of the village, said AR.
The events were widely appreciated by children home administration and the village- chief and secretary expressed gratitude to the AR for their continuous support, added the statement.
