Drug peddlers held

A mother son duo was arrested by a team of Imphal East District Police today with WY tablets and heroin worth more than Rs 4 lakh in the international market.
According to a reliable source, the team of Women Police of Imphal East led by Additional SP Mayengbam Roni and members of Youth Athletic Development Association (YADA), Khergao conducted a raid at the residence of Buyamayum Thoibi (45) w/o (late) B Abo Khan of Khergao Makha Leikai, who is also the ward member of Kshetrigao Part II Gram Panchayat acting upon a specific information regarding the presence of drug peddlers in Khergao Makha Leikai Yumkhaibam Leirak.
During the raid, 57 plastic vials containing heroin powder and two plastic packets containing 403 WY tablets were seized from the possession of Buyamayum Abdul Hanal@Anand, son of Buyamayum Thoibi.
Following the seizure of contraband, both Buyamayum Thoibi and Buyamayum Abdul were arrested.
During the preliminary interrogation, Buyamayum Thoibi was found to be involved in three different drug cases registered at Porompat Police Station.
The source added that the contraband items seized during the raid was worth Rs 4, 10,000/- in the international market.
The arrested persons along with the seized drug items were handed over to Porompat Police Station for further investigation and legal actions under relevant laws.
In a similar incident, a team of Kakching Police Commando arrested three persons along with 714 grams of heroin at around 7 pm yesterday from Kakching Lamkhai.
The team had set up a mobile vehicle check post at Kakching Lamkhai acting on reliable information regarding illegal transportation of contrabands on the Imphal-Moreh highway.
During the frisking one Bolero was detained for verification and checking.
On thorough checking of the vehicle, the team recovered 714 grams of heroin.
The team arrested Thongkhopao Baite (24), s/o Holkholat Baite of Chalson in Tengnoupal district; M Thangkhokai Haokip (30), s/o M Thanglhun Haokip of T Daampi village in Moreh and Seiminlal Lhungdim (27), s/o Khamkholet Lhungdim of Chalson in Tengnoupal district on the sport.
The arrested persons along with recovered contraband and vehicle were handed over to Kakching Police Station for further legal action.
