Assam Rifles provides assistance

Sajik Tampak and Kakching Battalion of 28 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR(South) provided assistance to the girls and visually impaired children of St Mary School and Mission Blind School respectively at Chandel district today.
With the surge in number of COVID cases, schools and care centres with differently abled children like the Blind Schools are the hardest hit by the pandemic in terms of shortage of essential supplies and COVID-19 supplies.
In view of the same, necessary assistance in terms of ration supplies, essential commodities, masks and hand sanitizer were provided to the children, said a statement issued by PRO Assam Rifles.
This platform was diligently utilised and a lecture on the theme 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' was conducted in St Mary School at Chandel district and troops of Assam Rifles also enquired about the wellbeing of the children and commended the staff for their noble service, added the statement.
In another instance Tengnoupal Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR(South) constructed and handed over a water tank with 14,000 litre capacity to Chalwa Village today.
The Village was facing acute shortage of water, especially in summers.
The need for a water tank was projected by the Battalion to assist the villagers.
The construction of water tank has brought a huge relief to the villagers, who were eagerly waiting for a permanent solution to the problem, said another statement issued by PRO Assam Rifles.
An inauguration event was organised by the Village Authorities wherein the villagers appreciated the help provided by the Assam Rifles, added the statement.
