Imphal, April 20 2021:
After several student organisations tried to storm the Administrative Block of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) today, AMSU said it is intensifying its protest demanding justice of Sanaton Athopkpam today.
Speaking to media persons at its DM College campus office today, AMSU (All Manipur Students' Union) vice president Laishram Athouba accused RIMS authority of not cooperating with the investigation into the death of Sanaton.
He said AMSU has been investigating the facts surrounding the case and as per the reports, the student body can't agree that Sanaton committed suicide, he said.
So far, the RIMS authority is not seen enthusiastically pursuing the case to uncover the truth.
There have been many lapses in the handling of the case, he said stating AMSU would continue to hold agitation demanding justice for Sanaton with the JAC (Justice For Sanaton Athokpam) .
It may be recalled that the 5th Semester MBBS student, Sanaton Athokpam was reportedly found hanging with both hands tied behind at a hotel at RIMS on March 15 .
