Imphal, April 20 2021:
Demanding a retrial of the drug haul case of 2018 at a higher Court and to provide befitting punishments to all those involved in Phoudel drug case, Wangkhem Nongmaileima Apunba Meira Paibi and CADA Imphal East District Committee jointly organised a sit-in protest at Keirao Wangkhem Makha Leikai today.
Speaking to media persons during the protest, secretary general of CADA Geetchandra Mangang said that democratic protests have been staged at different parts of the State since the past few months demanding retrial of the drug haul case of 2018 and to punish all those involved in Phoudel drug case.

However instead of fulfilling the demands of the people, the Government has been disrupting the protests and threatening the members of CADA which is really unfortunate, he added.
He further stated that inorder to protect some individuals concerned the Government should not let the people of the State fall prey to drug abuse.
In order to restore the faith of the public in the judiciary, Geetchandra Mangang urged the Government to take the case to a higher court and award befitting punishments to those involved in the drug case.
Slogans including 'do not demean war on drugs', 'award befitting punishments to drug smugglers' etc were raised at the end of the protest.
