Imphal, March 09 2014:
Taking serious note of the alleged one sided reports and contrived concerns over the process of the appointment of a regular Medical Superintendent in the institute, RIMS authority has clarified that there was some delay in the process since the RIMS authority is more concerned with the fate of the Post Graduate students in the Biochemistry Department.
There are just three faculties including Prof Amuba who is tipped to be the next MS.The next faculty cannot become the head of the department since she has crossed 62 years of age.
The third faculty is an Associate Professor.
The two faculties cannot teach all the PG students in the dept without inviting objections from the Medical Council of India, said a press release issued by the RIMS media advisor.
It may be recalled that in a meeting held on 24.7.2013 the Board of Governors of the Medical Council of India deliberated on the standard of examination and teaching facilities in the PG course in RIMS.
The agenda was to see whether the MS (ENT) course could be conducted.
It was resolved that the MCI would not recommend for the recognition of the increase of the PG seats from 4 to 7 in the MS(ENT) by the Manipur University.
The policy of the MCI which is applicable to all depts in RIMS is still there.
And two teachers cannot teach all the PG students in the Biochemistry dept and the MCI shall not recommend the recognition of the PG course.
