LS polls: 5 candidates for Inner, 6 for Outer announced so far

With the announcement of poll dates by Election Commission of India (ECI), various political parties have released names of their respective candidates for the coming 16th Lok Sabha election scheduled to be held on April 9 and 17 next month in two-phase in the State.
Manipur has two seats in the Lok Sabha.
The first of polling for the seat of Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency would be conducted on April 9 and the second phase of polling for the Inner Manipur Parliamentary on April 17.The last date for filing nomination papers has been fixed on March 26 and scrutiny of papers next day.
The last date for withdrawal of papers would be on March 29 and counting of votes will be done on May 16 .
Five candidates for Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency and six candidates for Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency have been announced by eight different political parties so far.
Naga People's Front (NPF), Janata Dal (United) and Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) have announced their respective candidates to contest for seat of Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency today.
Soso Lohro has been named as the NPF candidate, while Lien Gangte and Lamlalmoi have been nominated as JD (U) and CPI (ML) candidates respectively.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Trinamool Congress (TC), Communist Party of India (CPI), Indian National Congress (INC) and Manipur Democratic People's Front (MDPF) have already announced their candidates for the ensuing Lok Sabha polls.
The five candidates of Inner Manipur are sitting MP Dr T Meinya (INC), former Registrar of Manipur University (MU) Dr RK Ranjan (BJP), senior CPI leader Dr M Nara (CPI), retired IPS officer Sarangthem Manaobi Singh (TC) and Dr G Tonsana Sharma (MDPF) .
The other three candidates of Outer Manipur are sitting MP Thangso Baite (INC), former Higher Education Minister and former Professor of MU Gangmumei Kamei (BJP) and former Member of Parliament Kim Gangte (TC), who is also the president of state AITC unit.
It may be mentioned that CPI candidate Dr M Nara and JD (U) candidate Lien Gangte are the common candidates of Left and Secular Alliance for the two parliamentary constituencies of the State in the coming Lok Sabha polls.
