Imphal, March 09 2014:
Altogether 47 voters of 12 families residing within Singjamei Assembly constituency have been found deleted from the electoral roll published in January this year.
MPP spokesperson Heigrujam Nabashyam who contested Assembly elections thrice was among the 47 voters whose names have been deleted from the electoral roll.
Nonetheless, an official source in the office of the Chief Electoral Officer maintained that all the 47 voters including H Nabashyam are still present in the main electoral roll and this has been verified.
Their names would not be found in the supplementary electoral roll published in January, said the official.
Speaking to media persons at MPP office this afternoon, Nabashyam said that 51 voters of 12 families were listed in the electoral roll of Singjamei Assembly constituency's 13/4 polling station (Pettigrew Junior High School) since the past.
But the most recent electoral roll listed only four voters while the remaining 47 voters were removed.
Nabashyam said that he came to know his name has been deleted from the electoral roll when the BLO of his polling station called and asked him to fill up Form 6 over telephone today.
Questioning whether his name was deleted intentionally, Nabashyam maintained he would not fill up the particular form.
It is the duty of the concerned official and those responsible for the error should be punished according to election law, he added.
