Imphal, March 09 2014:
With caving in of around 20-metre-long portion of Imphal river bank along with the retaining wall at Kiyamgei Khoirom, villagers of Kiyamgei Khoirom have drawn the attention of the State Government that the State may face a huge flood if the sunk section is not reconstructed before the onset of the rainy season.
According to villagers, the caved-in portion is large enough to give a huge flood which may submerge half of the State.
Flood Control Drainage-1 Executive Engineer Ch Ranabir said that all possible efforts have been put in to strengthen the portion recently.
Although, IFCD had laid a three layered fresh earth foundation consuming around 15 days, the portion sunk while making a quality check by applying water, he added.
