Help provided to fire victims

Education Minister distributed books, pens and 2 bags of rice for the fire victims, whose belonging have been destroyed by the fire that broke out on the intervening night of February 11 and 12 at TN Memorial Academy and boarding at Champrathong under Heirok PS, Heirok Part-III.
The items were distributed by Thokchom Bishowjit on behalf of his brother Dr Radheshyam to the founder of school Tourangbam Janeshor and the students.
Belongings of 25 students who were staying at the boarding, including Admit cards issued by BSEM and stationery items, were reduced to ashes by the inferno.
It may be mentioned that the fire destroyed property worth around Rs 80 lakh.
On the other hand, Ningol Club Heirok also extended monetary assistance to the fire victims by visiting TN Memorial Academy, today.
A press release issued by the club's general secretary, Kh Sophiya said that the club will continue to provide all possible help to the students as well as the founder of the academy whenever needs arise.
Lauding Education Minister for distributing books to the hapless students, she sought cooperation and support from the public.
Sophiya also urged the State Government to establish one Fire Service Station at Heirok at the earliest.
