80th Nupi Lan Memorial Day observed at different districts

As observed every year, the 80th Nupi Lan Memorial Day-2019 was celebrated in different parts of Thoubal District, today.
Thoubal Ningombam Apunba Nupi Lup in association with NIYC, NYPC, NUYC and SDC Ningombam Thoubal observed the day at Ningombam Sana Keithel, today and paid floral tributes to the portraits of mothers/women who were martyred at the Nupi Lan.
ThoubaI College, Principal Okram Chaoba Devi, ThoubaI Municipal Council Ward no 11, Councillor Hijam Jamuna Devi, ThoubaI Ningombam Meira Paibi secretary, Thoibi and elder of the locality Noyon Devi attended the programme as the presidium members.
As part of the observance, a race for the women of Thoubal Ningombam and its adjacent villages was also organised.

The organisers also distributed one blanket each to the elders of Ningombam.
Speaking at the event, convenor of Nupi Lan Observation Committee, Irom Subasini alias Leisembi Leima stated that the first and second Nupi Lan which took place in 1904 and 1939 respectively will be remembered forever by every Manipuri.
Recalling that India became a part of India in 1949, she urged every woman to thrive for success to lend their helping hands in fighting the many issues that are surrounding the State today after the merger.
"As news of human rights violation, violence against child and women, drugs abuse and voices of separatism have filled the State today, it won't be wronged to say that Manipur has become a backward society", she said adding that it is high time for the people of Manipur to learn from the brave women who fought for the cause of Manipur in the first and second Nupi Lan.
MMRC & Unity Park Khangabok also observed the 80th Nupi Lan Memorial Day at its hall, today.
MMRC & Unity Park, Chairman, Khundrakpam Menjor Mangang; Zone -III Thoubal, ZEO, Arambam Anilkumar; Khangabok Zilla Parishad, former Member Kh Kumari; social workers, Kh Pujari and Kh Ruhini attended the observance as the presidium members.
During the programme, all the attendees led by Menjor Mangang paid floral tributes at the statue of Nupi Lan installed inside the said park.
Rejoicing the announcement of implementing Inner Line Permit System (ILPS) in the State, the gathering also paid floral tributes to the statue of Sapam Robinhood.
On the other hand, similar observance was also held at Ningol Club Heirok situated at Heirok part (IIl) Champra-Thong Maning, today.
The observation was graced by Coalition Against Drug and Alcohol (CADA) Manipur president, Hijam Priyokumar as chief Guest, Ningol Club Heirok secretary-general, Sophia Khundongbam as functional president and senior citizen from Heirok, Laishram Ito as the guest of honour.
United Manipur Muslim Women's Development Organization too observed the day at Mayang Imphal Bengoon Community Hall.
JIRIBAM: The 80th Nupi Lan Memorial Day-2019 was observed at the complex of Jiri Ima Meira Paibi.
Paying floral tributes to the brave women who fought in Nupi Lan and awarding prizes to the winners of women race were the main events of the observance.
MFICL, vice chairman K Saratkumar Singh; AJMP president, S Susila Devi; Jiribam SP, M Mubi Singh; Hmar National Union Club president, Benjamin Sakum; Meiyon Society Babupara Jiribam president, K Ratan Singh; JIMPAL Jiribam president, H Mema Devi; WASED Jiribam president, N Nebarani Devi; JIMWAK Jiribam president, Th Jini Devi ; WWOK president, H Thoibi Devi and AMWOVA president K Linthoi Devi attended the programme as dignitaries.
At the event, M Mubi Singh said that every responsible citizen of India must obey the laws of the country in order to protect the Nation's unity and integrity.
Saying that one should refrain from taking part in any activity that is anti-Constitutional, he added that police are willing to extend support in all forms of democratic protest.
He also lauded all the meira paibi for making the observance of Nupi Lan a success.
Kakching: In connection with the observance of the 80th Nupi Lan Memorial Day-2019, All Wangoo Senior Citizen Welfare Association, Wangoo Development Committee and Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences Students Association jointly organised a one-day free health camp cum awareness programme at Wangoo Laipham Community Health Centre, Wangoo under Sugnu Assembly Constituency, today.
During the camp, over 450 patients were treated at free of cost.
Writer's Association Kakching too observed the day at the auditorium of Representative of Lois (RoL) at Kakching Chumnang Leikai.
