Imphal, May 11 2016:
Stating that the Hill Areas Committee was not consulted in the passing of the three Bills by the State Assembly, the hill ADCs today said they are against the Bills.
ADC Ukhrul Chairman Dr Yaronsho Ngalung, in a press meet said the tribals are strongly against the three Bills as the Hill Areas Committee was not consulted before it was passed by the State Assembly.
There is nothing communal about the hill people opposing the three Bills, the chairman said.
The Bills, if implemented, will affect all the communities of the State.
It was therefore vital that the tribals were consulted before taking any decision.
The Bills are not money Bills, they will highly impact the hill people if implemented.
Not only was the Hill Areas Committee left out from the decision, the State Government did not even consult tribal MLAs regarding the Bills.
The ADCs therefore had no idea of the three Bills that were passed by the State Assembly, the Dr Yaronsho stated.
Today's press meet was attended by ADC chairmen of Chandel, Churachandpur, Sadar Hills, Senapati and Tamenglong.
