Imphal, May 27:
Shri Shri Natranalaya Government Dance College Imphal may be converted to a full fledged general educational institution as process to affiliate the same to Manipur University is on at full swing.
Once the college is affiliated and the vacant faculty members are filled as per the guidelines of the University Grants Commission, the course of Visarat at the institution would be equivalent with the three year degree course.
With the primary aim to upgrade the only Govt run institution in the State, the Art and Culture Department has taken up the initiatives on the matter, Dr K Sobita Devi Joint Director of the same Dept informed The Sangai Express.
The Dept had already paid the affiliation fee of Rs one lakh to MU in March 2005, she said adding that they are waiting for the syllabus and other criteria from the varsity authorities.
The Department is also ready to take up the task of converting the college to a full fledged Govt College when such regulations are dispatched from the University, she said while hoping that new sessions will start from the current year in the line of a full fledged general education if the varsity rules are given at the earliest and finalised by the Dept.
