The State Government has constituted a nine member High level Committee with Chief Secretary Jarnail Singh as the chairman to monitor and recommend various development projects under the 12th Finance Commission allocation.
The committee members are Additional Chief Secretary (Forests & Environment), principal Secretaries of works, finance and hills and Commissioners of YAS, RD&PR, Mahud and Art and culture, detailed an informed source.
The Committee has been constituted to keep a close tab on the Commission�s grants-in-aid amount of Rs 76.96 crores pertaining to maintenance of roads and bridges, public buildings, forests and heritage conservation; State specific needs totalling R 30 crore; and provision of Rs 55 crore for matters concerning local bodies to be executed in between 2005-06 to 2009-10.On grants-in-aid for maintenance and State specific needs the committee is to accord approval to the project at the beginning of every year to be undertaken in each sector, quantifying the targets both in physical and financial terms, and setting a time-table for achieving specific milestones.
The Committee will monitor devolution of powers, utilisation of grants, revenue mobilization etc in consonance with the 12th FC recommendation and approved by the State Govt regarding the local bodies� grants.
