Strike supporters today torched a two-wheeler vehicle at Luxmi Bazar under Wangoi PS during the 48 hours Statewide general strike called to protest alleged inaction of the Govt against those involved in opening fire at Uchiwa Wangma Ekop Pat.
Although there was less impact of the general strike in other parts of the State, the strike has greatly affected the Mayai Lambi.
Strike supporters blocked movement of vehicles along the road.
However, free passage was given for religious ceremonies.
Strike supporters also staged roadblock at Samu-rou Bazar.
A two-wheeler vehicle was burnt at Pangal Siphai, Luxmi Bazar under Wangoi PS reportedly by the strike supporters.
The vehicle, a Yamaha Fazer (MN04B-8470) is said to belong to one Md Ajmir (17) S/o Saukat Ali of Hapta.
The 48-hour general strike called by the JAC against the firing at Lairou Ekop Ningthou Yakabung came into effect from 6am today.
Meanwhile, members of the JAC formed in connection with the firing at Lairou Ekop Ningthou Yakabung held a meeting with the Chief Minister at his Bungalow today in the presence of Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar and MLA Md Fajur Rahim.
However, no understanding was reached during the meeting.
The next meeting is scheduled to be held on May 31 .
The JAC, in a statement, pledged to sustain its agitation until an understanding is reached on the case.
