Army jawan killed in PLA bomb attack

Imphal, May 30 2014 :
A jawan was killed when suspected armed cadres of PLA attacked with bomb at the camp of 25th Madras Regiment B-Coy in Manipur south district of Churachandpur.
Police said today that the armed PLA cadres hurled a powerful bomb either a lethod or a rocket at the Madras Regiment B-Coy camp located at Thaigotang village under Singhat police station of Churachandpur district at around 9:10 pm on Thursday killing one Havildar identified as G Mohon Kumar, 41 years, s/o Sadana Swamy of Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.
A splinter of the bomb hit the neck of the jawan killing him on the spot.
Thaigotang village is situated 18 km to the east of Singhat police station.
The place is also adjacent to border pillar number 45 along Indo-Myanmar border.
Meanwhile, the post-mortem of the dead body was done at RIMS and later transported to Leimakhong military base.
A case has been registered in this connection by Singhat police station.
It may be recalled here that some jawans including a Junior Commission Officer (JCO) of the Madras Regiment were seriously injured when militants had attacked them in the same Madras Regiment on May 14 morning.
