AMSU Hqs bomb attack: Court rejects bail application

The Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West rejected the bail application filed by Huidrom Ajit who was arrested as one of the main suspects in AMSU complex bomb blast case.
After the completion of police custody period, the accused Huidrom Ajit @ Langdai (46) of Khangempali Huidrom Leikai was produced before the Court by Imphal PS via video conferencing where the IO of the case prayed for judicial remand of the accused for smooth investigation of the case.
The Counsel of the accused, on the other hand, filed a remand objection and prayed the Court to release the accused on bail.
Earlier the IO of the case through APP, submitted that one unknown person who came on a Honda Activa hurled a hand grenade inside the AMSU office on June 8 at around 7.20 pm attempting to take the lives of students and damaging the office properties of the student body.
The accused, who was already on bail in connection with another UAPA case ( of 2015), was arrested on June 12 during the course of investigation, the IO submitted.
The IO also submitted that the accused had revealed that he had gone to AMSU office in March, threatened AMSU office bearers and advisors not to hold election of the new office bearers of AMSU.
The accused is highly suspected to be involved in hurling the hand grenade at AMSU office on June 8 night, the IO submitted and thus prayed for remanding the accused to judicial custody to ascertain more facts of the case and also to cause arrest of his associate.
The Court after hearing both sides and on perusal of the case record and other materials produced before it, rejected the bail application of the accused and remanded him to judicial custody.
