Imphal, June 17 2021:
Rongmei Naga Youth Organisation Manipur (RNYOM) has urged the state government and CSOs for immediate intervention and action against those involved in mob violence at Pongrin-glong village on Thursday.
A press release issued by RNYOM Communication Cell expressed strong resentment over the biased and violent activities of the 'so-called' JAC.
"The act of JAC as seen today at Pongringlong is a direct violation of the age-old tradition and customary practices of the Rongmei village.
The said committee luring wayward youth from surrounding villages and instigating them to attack the villagers and destroying properties, despite the knowledge and presence of Police security and imposition of CrPC (144) is smack of brutal criminal intention", it said.
RNYOM contended that the mob raiding the village causing injuries and destruction of private properties is direct violation of human rights, customary rights and Covid-19 SOP.
The state government and all civic citizens and CSOs should initiate stringent action against the perpetrators and penalise them as per the law of the land, failing which RNYOM shall take up appropriate action against the greed-based and bribed perpetrators and the organisation shall not be held responsible for any eventuality, it cautioned.
