Imphal, October 10 2013 :
The United Revolutionary Front (URF) Manipur has called for a complete shut down on October 15 in protest against the controversial Merger Agreement which came into effect from October 15, 1949 .
A press release issued by the outfit's information and publicity secretary Sanajaoba Meitei asserted that king Bodhachandra was kept under house arrest at Red Lands, Shillong and was forced to sign the Merger Agreement under duress.
After the controversial Merger Agreement, Manipur was brought under military occupation of India, the outfit alleged.
Saying that October 15 is the most shocking day in the history of Manipur, the outfit called upon all the people to suspend all their daily activities from October 14 midnight till 6 pm of October 15 and ponder what each and every people of Manipur need to do for the nation at this juncture.
People engaged in essential services like water supply, electricity, medical, religious activities and media may go with their normal activities as usual, it added.
Any kind of SoO or peace talk which rules out complete independence would never succeed in bringing in form of settlement to the liberation movement, the outfit asserted.
