Handicrafts products of Muslim women launched

In order to upgrade the skill of Manipuri Muslim women at par with the other communities in the state, Indigenous Muslim Women Enterprises (IMM) with the support of United Muslim Women Development Organization (UMMWDO) organized a handicraft product launching ceremony at Youth Hostel, Khuman Lampak today.
MLA Mohammad Fajur Rahim, Chairman Wakf Board, Manipur and Alhaj Syed Wahidur Rahman, Associate Professor G..PWomen's College attended the launching ceremony as president and guest of honour of the event respectively.
Mohammad Abdul Nasir, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Manipur who attended the function as the Chief Guest said that even if a Muslim household depended solely on the menfolk for their source of livelihood in the past, now, the women have come out of their homes and started earning in different ways.
Appreciating the step taken by the women, he said that people should all perform their duty and try to develop the society.
President of the IMM Women's Enterprises Anwari Noorjaani giving her keynote briefed that the motive of the organization is to make Muslim women capable of earning their own income.
She lamented that in the past 50 years ago, Muslim women actively participated in earning livelihood by poultry farming but with the advancement of science and technology, these works became hard to compete in the fast improving works generated by machines and technology.
She said that by this new initiative taken up by the organization, Muslim women can engage themselves in contributing to the society other than doing odd jobs like washing utensils in hotels.
A least number of Muslim community-made products are found in the market as of now, she added.
