Imphal, October 10 2013 :
Abungchiang Village Authority, Tamenglong district has rejected the charge of mismanagement of MGNREGS and other funds as alleged by the Abungchiang (Nagaching) Part-I Pei which appeared in some sections of the media on Sept 11 .
Terming the allegation as baseless, the Abungchiang Village Authority today clarified that slab culvert construction under MGNREGS is going on with the directive of the concerned authority.
A statement issued by the VA also said that village social audit has been conducted for every phase of work.
On the delayed construction of water supply scheme under PHED, the VA said it was due to scarcity of perennial water source as per the field survey report of SO of PHED, Manipur.
The expert survey report pointed out that due to reckless cutting down of trees around the area, water could not be generated at least for another 2/3 years from the area till the regeneration of the trees.
Based on the expert advice, the villagers formulate a stringent law to stop indiscriminate felling of trees mainly in the water source area, the VA statement said.
Construction of water reservoir had began from May this year and along with that fitting of GI pipes was undertaken, it said while urging the complaining party to personally verify the work.
The driver of a bulldozer was also chased away from the work place by feeding wrong information by the concerned party besides harassing the innocent electrician who came all the way from Imphal, it stated.
It further urged the concerned party to settle any grievance they have within the village instead of levelling charges against Ditholiu Kamei and Pingjuan Gangmei in public through the media.
It also clarified that there is no Pei in Abungchiang village Part -I since a year back.
