In case non-local people are conspiring to create divisions among the people of Kamjong area, the villagers should stand together to thwart any such diabolic attempt, said Phungyar A/C MLA Wungnaoshang Keishng.
The MLA was speaking as chief guest at the inaugural function of the Tangkhul Naga Zingsho Longphang Long Day 2008 at Kamjong of Ukhrul district.
Wungnaoshang observed that different communities of Kamjong area have been living together in peace and harmony.
In the event of non-local people scheming to create divisions among the people of Kamjong, the villagers should vigilant and stand united, he exhorted.
Hailing paramilitary forces and police posted there for protecting the villagers, he called upon volunteers and NGOs of different communities to avert any possible communal tension and to focus on development.
Touching on development issues of the area, Wungnaoshang stated that a project of estimated cost Rs 5 crores has been sanctioned by the Govt to provide safe drinking water to all the villages of Kamjong area.
Preparations have been made to make the Kasom Khullen-Phungyar road as a four-lane road.
Moreover, many road development initiatives have also been included in the work programmes of relevant Depts.
He also appealed to the villagers not to intimidate workers but to extend full cooperation towards development programmes taken up in the area.
Addressing the gathering as special guest, Col HS Bansla of 1st AR asserted that the basic purpose of the AR posted in Kamjong is to help the villagers and maintain peace in the area so that people can pursue development activities.
