A Havildar of the 165th Territorial Army who was admitted at the Leimakhong Military Hospital succumbed to injuries he sustained after falling from a moving vehicle at around 1.30 pm yesterday.
The victim havildar identified as Lalsang Zual was rushed to the Hospital with serious injuries he suffered from the fall at Leimakhong Dwarika village which is about 20 kilometres south-west of Sapermeina police station.
A case has been registered in the Sapermeina police station on the incident and the body handed over to relevant authority on completion of post mortem at RIMS morgue today.
In another motor accident, one 50-year-old Tokpam Norendro succumbed to injuries at RIMS Hospital at around 4 pm after he was hit by a passenger Jeep at Uripok Mayai Leikai this morning.
Norendro, who is likely to be from uripok area, was rammed by the vehicle (MNP/9484) while walking on foot and was immediately rushed to the hospital where he passed away.
The body is being kept at RIMS morgue for necessary procedures tomorrow.
Six UGs nabbed : Imphal East district police commandos and 32 Assam rifles personnel apprehended six activists of different underground organisations in the past 48 hours.
According to a release of SP (IE) L Kailun the combined team on frisking duty at Lamlong bazar yesterday arrested a S/S Sergeant of PREPAK and two other cadres of the KCP.
While the PREPAK activist has been identified as Irom Sharat Singh alias Chaoba alias Langamba (27) s/o Thoiba of Pukhao Laipham, the KCP duo have been identified as Moirangthem Naoba Singh alias Nanao (22) s/o M chaoba of Nongada Awang leikai and Soibam Rabi Singh alias Ibungo (30) s/o S Mani of Telou Mamang Leikai.
Both, according to the SP, were recruited by one Abocha of Nongada.
A team of Imphal East police commandos also nabbed three KLA members from Andro Parking at around 8.30 am today and recovered 70 Nos of AK rifle ammunition and a Bajaj Pulsar (MN1Q/0335) from the trio's possession.
Identifying the three as Ngamkhogin Kipgen alias Hegin (27) s/o Henthang of Bungbal Khullen, Mrs Boisi Kipgen (23) w/o Ngamkhogin and Mrs Hoichong Chongloi alias Achong (44) w/o Paokhohao Chongloi of Molkon, the SP's statement informed that arrested members of the UGs are under active interrogation.
