The Court of Special Judge POCSO Imphal has directed the Officer-in-Charge of Imphal women police station to produce the juvenile who is accused of murdering a minor girl in September 2020 before the Juvenile Justice Board, Imphal West.
The direction was given yesterday as per the application filed by the mother of the accused who prayed to the Court to determine the age of her son who was lodged at Manipur Central Jail.
During the proceeding of the case, the Court on February 14, 2022, ordered to constitute a medical examination board to determine the age of the child in conflict with law (CCL) and in accordance with the order, a Special State Medical Board was constituted and a sitting was held on April 27, 2022 .
Reportedly, the board had submitted its report.
The case was on against CCL based on the complaint lodged by family members of the victim on September 2, 2020 .
The Court observed that the incident took place on September 1, 2020 and at the time the accused was a juvenile (17 years & 5 months) .
The case is to be dealt by JJB, Imphal West under due process of law, it said .
The Court directed the Superintendent of Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa to hand over the child in conflict with law to the Officer in Charge, Imphal West women police station so that the police could submit its compliance report to the Court.
