Ukhrul, September 30 2022:
Transport minister Khashim Vashum has said that division of labour, which is initially an economic concept to increase productivity, can be adapted to contemporary society and is necessary for progress and reformation.
The minister stated this while speaking as chief guest at the cultural day celebration of Tangkhul Welfare Society, Mumbai (TWSM) held at Marathi Bhasa Bhavan, Mumbai University on September 28."Let our spiritual leaders administer their ministries wholeheartedly so that there will be spiritual growth and let all those in government or private jobs do their best to serve the society.
In the same way, those in politics need to focus on how they could bring positive changes in the lives of their community and all students should pursue their studies," he said.
Khashim further said that meaningful progress and development in the society would come only when everyone specialises in their respective occupations or areas of concern.
One should stick to their profession and should not differentiate it on the basis of big or small because every occupation is worthwhile, he added.
Painting a scenario, Khashim Vashum, who also holds the veterinary & animal husbandry portfolios, noted that when this happens, real development in the society will be witnessed and thus, the concept of labour division needs to be adopted.
TWSM president Somatai Raleng, on behalf of Tangkhul community in Mumbai, apprised the visiting minister about the need for establishing Manipur Bhavan in the metro city.
He also drew attention of the minister towards the upcoming TWSM's 10th anniversary celebration taking place in February next year.
According to Raleng, TWSM was founded in the city in 2021 with the objective of ensuring the wellbeing of all Tangkhul natives residing there, as well as preserving and promoting Tangkhul culture and tradition.
As part of the celebration; a wide array of festivities including cultural shows, traditional costume exhibition, skits, folk dance, and competitive events like singing, extempore speech and others were organised.
Meiphung Productions' Tangkhul feature film 'Khanaowa Shongza' was also released and screened on the day.
Sadaun Ningshen, chief manager of Bank of India, Dhule branch, Maharashtra, attended the event as guest of honour.
