AMTU attends national meet on Forest Rights Act

A delegation of All Manipur Tribal Union (AMTU) participated in the national meet to review Forest Rights Act implementation and eviction of tribals held on August 28 and 29 at Montfort Social Institute, Uppal (Hyderabad) .
According to AMTU information and publicity cell, the meet was organised by Human Rights Law Network, Delhi on the issues of poor state of implementation of Forest Rights Act, the negative outcomes of review process and eviction taking place in tribal areas particularly during the Covid-19 lockdown.
There were about 85 participants from all over the country representing tribal communities from all the states.
It mentioned that AMTU placed various issues like Article 371C for effective and absolute implementation of the provision of Indian Constitution, encroachment into tribal land, implementation of Forest Act 2006 and many reserved and protected forest land acquired without the consent of owners and HAC and ADC among others.
The issued discussed would be brought up in the Supreme Court with the help of various tribal and like-minded organisations of the states, added the release.
