Ambient air monitoring station activated at Irilbung

Imphal, September 01 2021:
An ambient air monitoring station has been operationalized at Manipur Pollution Control Board, Imphal East office located within Sawombung SDO complex on Wednesday.
The station has become the 5th ambient air monitoring station in the state, which will monitor pollutants in air.
MPCB chairman L Radhakishore inaugurated the station, which was installed under the National Air Monitoring Programme of Central Pollution Control Board.
Speaking at the event, MPCB senior environmental engineer Khagokpam Premkanta informed that the station will monitor air quality in four parameters.
Findings of the station will be shared with the environment committees formed under the DC Imphal East if required for taking up necessary measures.
The board is also in the process of installing similar monitoring stations in the remaining districts soon, he said.
Emphasising on the importance of maintaining a clean environment for a healthy and prosperous life, he appealed to the public to cooperate in reducing environment pollutions and support the activities of the board taken up from time to time.
