Imphal, October 28 2016:
While honouring the Supreme Court verdict which dismissed his election to the Manipur Legislative Assembly as null and void, MLA Mairembam Prithiviraj has stated that he is well prepared to face the 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly election.
Speaking to media persons at his official residence located opposite to Kangla Park (beside Manipur Press Club), Prithiviraj said that he accepts the Supreme Court verdict.
However, he decried that BJP member P Saratchandra and his supporters have been floating false propaganda in sub-judice manner since 6/7 months back that he (Prithiviraj) would not be able to contest the forthcoming Assembly election and he would be imprisoned.
Prithiviraj admitted before the Court through his counsel that there was a clerical error in the nomination papers he filed for the last State Assembly election regarding his educational qualification.
"I don't find anything in the Court order which prohibits me from contesting elections or that says criminal proceedings would be initiated against me", he remarked.
"From now on, I will take extreme care while filing nomination papers", he added.
