Bridges to be built with NABARD loans

Altogether four bridges including three which were destroyed by floods last year would be constructed/re-constructed with soft loans from National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD).
One of the four bridges which would be constructed/re-constructed with soft loans from NABARD is the Chakpikarong Bridge which serves as a key link in Chandel district, sources in the State PWD informed.
Chakpikarong Bridge was severely damaged by floods last year thereby creating lots of difficulties to the people of Chakpikarong and surrounding villages regarding transportation and communication.
Along with Chakpikarong Bridge, Anal Khullen Bridge and Heirok Chingdongpok Bridge which were also damaged by floods last year would also be re-constructed.
Chandrakhong bailey bridge would also be constructed anew as an RCC bridge.
Chakpikarong Bridge, Anal Khullen Bridge and Heirok Chingdongpok Bridge would be constructed as steel bridges without any pillars in the middle.
The three bridges are designed by the Projects Consulting, India (P) Limited, New Delhi.
Span of the new Chakpikarong Bridge would be longer by 30 metres from its previous span of 30 metres.
Whereas Projects Consulting India (P) Limited, New Delhi is on the verge of completing the designs of the three bridges, soil testing has also begun, informed the sources.
Construction work for the RCC bridge at Chandrakhong has already begun.
The estimated costs are Rs 12 crore for Chakpikarong Bridge, Rs 9 crore for Anal Khullen Bridge, Rs 9 crore for Heirok Chingdongpok Bridge and Rs 12 crore for Chandrakhong Bridge.
The amount of around Rs 40 crore which the State Government would take from NABARD in the form of soft loans would be repaid after 15 years in phase manner, added the sources.
