AR shine in all India police archery c'ship

Imphal, October 28 2016:
Assam Rifles team were declared champions in the Indian round and compound event and runners up in the recurve event of the 5th All India Police Archery Championship which was held at Ranchi, Jharkhand from Oct 19 to 23 .
Archers from all Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) took part in the competition.
The Assam Rifles team took part in all the events of the men's category.
Proving their mettle in the competition, the Assam Rifles archers performed exceedingly well by winning medals in both individual as well as team events, according to a statement issued by the PRO of IGAR (S) .
The AR archers won a total of 5 gold, 3 silver and 5 bronze medals.
Apart from the medals won by the archers in the team events, Rifleman Bijendranath Singh won individual gold in 30 meters distance Indian round and overall gold of Indian round and Rifleman Th Sanatomba Singh won silver in individual Olympic round.
Overall, the Assam Rifles secured 2nd position (silver) out of 23 teams that participated in the championship.
Rifleman Bijendranath Singh will be representing India in World Police Championship to be held in Canada next year.
Assam Rifles has not only been safeguarding the people but also has been producing accomplished sportsperson.
Director General Assam Rifles and Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) complemented Rifleman Bijendranath Singh and Rifleman Th Sanatomba Singh for their achievements.
