Each beneficiary in 12,500 households to get 5 kg rice: Deputy Speaker

Deputy Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly, Kongkham Robindro has assured that all residents above 5 years of age living under 12,500 households in Mayang Imphal Assembly Constituency will be receiving 5 kg of rice per head under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana (PMGKAY) .
The statement was made on the sideline of the distribution of relief materials on account of the COVID-19 lockdown.
The Deputy Speaker who has been working relentlessly for the welfare of the people during the lockdown maintained that NFSA rice has been successfully reached to all the residents and the quota of rice under PMGKAY scheme has also arrived and will be handed out to the all eligible beneficiaries and non-locals who are residing on rented accommodations.
All beneficiaries, original residents and those living on rented houses, will be equally receiving 5 kg each as surplus rice has been procured using MLA Local Area Development Fund, he said.
He also continued that, around 3000 most deprived households, have been also extending all sorts of assistance including edibles, through a relief committee formed by many philanthropists including members of local clubs, organisations, Pradhans, Ward Members under different Gram Panchayats in the Mayang Imphal Assembly Constituency.
He also promised to extend all possible help to his residents apart from handing out aids extended by the State and Central Government, through proper channel.
Edibles were also extended at various locations across the State by social workers, local body representatives, committees, clubs and organisations.
Moirang: Councillor of Moirang Municipal Council Ward No 2, H Romabala and his spouse Hemam Tomboi Singh and social worker from the same Ward, Hemam Bung also distributed edibles to households under the Ward.
In the meantime, Moirang Block Congress Committee also continued to distribute essential commodities at various locations which were not covered earlier.
Konjengbam Leikai Youths Welfare Association also expressed gratitude to all for their humanitarian efforts during such a critical juncture.
Thoubal: Joining the humanitarian work, Maulvis from 6 Mohallas in Thoubal Moijing has also extended relief materials to around 130 households in the Moijing area which have been badly affected by the Lockdown.
The distribution of relief materials was held at Madrassa Usmania Thoubal Moijing in the presence of SP Thoubal Dr S Ibomcha.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ibomcha, maintained that the lockdown has been imposed with the sole aim of curbing the transmission of the COVID-19 and the lockdown has been going impressively well with the support of the public.
It is quite pleasing to learn that the first person reported with COVID-19 case has been fully cured and discharged and the second victim has also tested negative on a successive test, he added.
He also appealed all not to go out unnecessarily even if the lockdown is relaxed as gathering could lead to a big disaster in case the disease resurfaces.
He also urged everyone present to procure food items available in the nearby areas and use masks when venturing out besides asking all to sanitize their hands frequently.
He also requested all concerned to allow a maximum of 3 important and responsible persons to do the ritual and other ceremonial things at Masjid during the upcoming Ramadan in wake of the situation while urging others to offer namaz at home until the disease is wiped out.
Meanwhile WATEFADEAS (Wangjing Tentha Farmers Development Association), Khongjom War Memorial Trust, Local Youth Clubs, Mahila Mandal, social workers and elected members of Gram Panchayat has also jointly initiated distribution of edibles to households under Wangjing Tentha Assembly Constituency.
Social Backward Peoples Development Organisation (SBPDO), Sangaiyumpham and Karanchi Youth Sporting Association (KYSA) have also distributed edibles to families dependent on daily wage and widows of the Sangaiyumpham Sabal Leikai with the assistance of DC Thoubal.
Adhyaksha of Lilong Turel Ahanbi Atoukhong Zilla Parishad, Hasina Begum has also distributed food items to the residents of Oinam Sawombung GP for the second time.
District Legal Services Authority Thoubal under the sponsorship of Manipur State Legal Services Authority has also distributed essential items like rice, milk, atta, sugar, biscuits, potato, onion, oil, eggs, Hand Sanitizer at Kullachandra Children Home For Mentally Ill (Boys) Langathel Chingkhong; Juvenile Justice Home, Samaram; Iramdam Ningol Sanglen (An Open Shelter Home) run by Rural Voluntary Service Wangbal; Aged Home run by United Rural Development Service, Heirok and Children Home For Mentally Ill (Girls) at Thoubal Sabaltongba.
Distribution of edible items was also carried out at Icham Khunou village under Wangkhem Kendra by Kangabam Jadumani.
Kakching: Proprietor of JKS (James Khaling and Sons) Construction Private Limited, Milan Khalingna; MLA of Kakching Assembly Constituency, Yengkhom Surchandra and Fidelity Horticulture cum Sugarcane Growers Co-Operative Society Limited Laipham Lotnung Kakching has also joined the humanitarian work to reduce the hardships of 55 households during the lockdown by distributing 5 each of rice, potatoes and onions today.
MLA Surchandra also noted that necessary arrangement to distribute 5 kg to every individual under his constituency has been made having carried out the same earlier.
He also maintained that the residents of Sora will be offered rice, dal, oil and other edibles on April 22 and 23 on account of the Ramadan.
He also urged everyone to help one another in such a hard time and fight against the disease collectively.
He also appealed to encourage frontline workers who are working for everyone's safety.
Yengkhom Nilachandra, Executive Engineer of Manipur Police Housing Corporation from Kakching Khullen Laishangbam Pareng also doled out edibles to 450 most impoverished families at Kakching, Pallel, Leimangai Chingjin, Bijoypur/Kuraopokpi, Sora, Irengband, Mairenbam and Hawairou areas today.
Rice and other edibles were also distributed at Yangdong and Kakching Ward No 9 by local clubs and elected representatives.
Chandel: Chairman of Autonomous District Council Chandel, D Ringo Lamkang also continued his noble work of distributing edibles to residents of Aihang, New Chayang, Keithelmanbi, Leingangching, Kalikalok and Purum Pantha.
The materials were handed out to the respective village chiefs, village authorities today at the residence of D Ringo Lamkang at New Chayang Village.
Edibles were also distributed to around 60 households in Aimol Khodamphai Village with the contributions by 13 Government employees under the aegis of Pastor of Aimol Khodamphai Baptist Church and deacons, on account of the lockdown.
4 kg of rice to each resident of 14 Chothe villages under Chandel Assembly Constituency was also distributed by Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Letpao Haokip.
International Peace and Social Advancement (IPSA) has came out to encourage Home Guard, VDF and Police personnel who are working relentless to fight the spread of COVID-19 by distributing hand sanitizers, masks and hand gloves.
The items were handed to the SP Imphal West today by a delegate of IPSA led by its president, Joychandra Konthoujam.
IPSA also assured of extending all possible help to the State Government in the fight against COVID-19.Social Youth Organisation (SOYO), Sanjenbam also provided essentials to 203 families of Sanjenbam village.
