Aids provided to stranded people, students, differently-abled persons

United Committee Manipur, COVID-19 Task Force has distributed relief materials to stranded people including students from different hill districts today.
The UCM task force distributed the materials at the premises of Nightingale Hotel, Chingmeirong Mamang Leikai, Tangkhul Avenue.
Chairman of the task force and president, UCM, Sunil Karam said that the assistance was provided to give relief to the people from hill districts who are left stranded in the area due to the ongoing lockdown.
With the extension of the lockdown, many students, and daily wagers who are staying at rented rooms in Imphal and other areas have been struggling to get daily essential items, said Sunil adding UCM will continue to help such people/students in other areas also.
Appealing people to strictly follow the guidelines of the World Health Organisation and State Health authority and maintain social distancing, Sunil urged all to stand united in facing COVID-19.UCM provided rice, pulses, vegetable and other essential items.
Meanwhile, Relief Centre for the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons, Manipur in association with All Manipur United Club's Organization (AMUCO) and others distributed relief materials to differently-abled persons today.
They distributed various relief materials at homes of the differently-abled persons in different districts, said a statement of Relief Centre for the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons.
Members of the relief centre, AMUCO, Department of Community Medicine, RIMS Imphal, Social Welfare Department and many individuals had donated monetary aids, said the centre.
Rice, potatoes, Ngari, edible oil, pulses, salt sugar, onions etc were distributed to differently-abled persons in Kakching, Bishnupur, Kangpokpi, Imphal East and Imphal West districts, said the centre.
On the other hand, All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) has started distributing relief materials to those who are staying in rented rooms in Imphal, said the organisation today.
It is aiming to provide relief materials to about 10,000 tenants in Imphal area with the assistance of clubs, Meira Paibis and many individuals.
With limited resources, the organisation may not be able to cover all, More focus will be given to those who have been affected most and are yet to avail any relief material, said the organisation.
It also appealed MLAs, clubs and all to help tenants in the areas during the lockdown.
Aids to stranded students Considering the hardship of students from different State who are stranded at Manipur due to the lockdown, NERIST Alumni Association (NAA) Manipur chapter has helped 20 students from Arunachal Pradesh, today.
A team of NERIST alumni led by N Somarendro Singh, president of NAA Manipur chapter distributed various essential items, apart from refilling LPG cylinders of the students from Arunachal Pradesh.
The relief items that were distributed include rice, dal, mustard oil, potato, onion, garlic, cabbage, salt, beans, red chilli, masala, turmeric powder, body soap, detergent, shampoo, refilled LPG and sanitary pad for girls.
The 20 students from Arunachal Pradesh are a currently studying at different institutes and colleges such as Saina Institute of Medical Sciences; DM College; Manipur University; Pandit Deen Dayal Institute of Agricultural Sciences and Theological College, Ukhrul.
The assistance was arranged with the generous contribution made by the members of NAA.
