Dy CM Gaikhangam admonishes hypocrisy

The number of people who com-promise the truth for a short- term gain has been increasing.
And people who live and speak the truth can be counted with the fingers, Dy CM Gaikhangam stated.
The Dy CM was addressing the MU Naga Meet 2016 organised by Naga Students' Welfare Committee at Mani-pur University Centenary Hall on the theme 'Learning Promotes Strength' today.
Saying that truthfulness is important to create a progressive society, Gaikhangam urged all concerned to eschew the habit of sacrificing the truth for vested interest.
As the habit of speaking and living the truth is waning, many people have devia- ted from history.
It is unfortunate and alarming for the future generations that the habit of speaking the truth is waning.
He urged the students to take part in activities that are beneficial for the society as a whole.
He encouraged the students to take the right path so that they reach their destination.
He strongly advocated the idea of inclusiveness of all communities for betterment and prosperity of Manipur.
He also encouraged the students to strive not only for material enrichment but also to pursue knowledge enrichment.
Dy Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly, MK Preshow Shimray, who attended the programme as the guest of honour, said that people of the State cannot beg neighbouring States for developmental works such as construction of educational institutions.
These developmental works can only be given to people of the State by the Manipur Government.
Therefore, it is better to go along with the leaders of Manipur.
Attending the programme as the functional president, Prof N Lokendro Singh said that Manipur's diversity of culture is well reflected in Manipur University.
The students showcased dances of different Naga tribes as a part of the programme.
The faculty members of different departments and research scholars, apart from the students, attended the function.
