In the backdrop of the series of bomb blasts at Imphal city, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam who is also in charge of Home Department has stated that he cannot help suspecting if some security personnel were involved in the bomb blasts.
Speaking to some media persons at Congress Bhavan here today about yesterday's bomb blast, Gaikhangam stated that IED components can be transported in pieces easily and they can be assembled without much difficulty.
Two-wheelers can be checked easily but it is cumbersome and time consuming to check four-wheelers thoroughly.
There is a machine to install X-Ray vehicle machines at Imphal, he averred.
On being enquired about some people's suspicion that the bomb blasts were carried out with the involvement of security personnel with an intention to re-impose AFSPA in Imphal Municipal area, the Deputy Chief Minister maintained that Manipur police have been discharging their duties well.
"I don't believe police personnel were involved in any bomb blasts but there is a also a possibility that some black sheep might be present within Manipur police.
The Government is examining this possibility", Gaikhangam stated.
The deceased and injured victims included people of different communities.
Police officers have been instructed to chart out a long term security plan and also to make all CCTV cameras functional.
To check such anti-social activities, public cooperation is crucial, Gaikhangam asserted.
