Imphal, March 12 2015:
The Manipur State Congress Party (MSCP) led by Adim Panmei which was virtually reduced to a non-entity after it was deserted by all the five MLAs of the party and some other leaders has joined BJP thereby striking the last nail on the party's coffin.
Earlier the five standing MLAs of MSCP deserted the party along with some other party leaders and merged themselves with Congress party.
Adim Panmei and his group were accorded a warm reception at the BJP State unit office today together with retired Social Welfare Director Satyabhama and political activists who joined the party anew.
Speaking at the reception function, BJP Manipur Pradesh president Th Chaoba declared that the party has approved entry of 12 former MSCP leaders, former Director Satyabhama, Advocate W Bhubaneshwor and five political activists/social workers belonging to different Assembly segments.
Abolition of MSCP and merger of its leaders with BJP would go a long way in galvanizing the party's strength in Manipur, Chaoba exuded.
MSCP leaders merged with BJP because the two parties are of the same mind and their common goal is establishment of a corruption-free, development oriented Government.
With the abolition of MSCP, the controversy over the ownership of its office (currently occupied by BJP Manipur Pradesh) has been resolved.
Saying that BJP would not accept the Congress Government's plan to put off ADC elections, Chaoba claimed that BJP would field maximum number of candidates and the party would certainly emerge victorious.
Adim Panmei declared that MSCP has been abolished and no one can now claim the plot currently occupied by BJP Manipur Pradesh as their own.
On being asked if the complaint to disqualify the five MSCP MLAs who joined Congress party has been withdrawn, Adim Panmei said that the matter has ended with the abolition of MSCP.
