Ukhrul, March 12 2015:
Mapum villagers have urged the authorities concerned to look into the ongoing construction of PMGSY road from Shirui to Chingsui via Mapum, reports Mungchan Zimik.
"The State Government has purportedly failed to take any action for proper implementation of the Centrally-sponsored road project from Shirui to Chingsui via Mapum village," said the statement issued by the Mapum Village Authority.
The village authority further stated that a memorandum was submitted to Minister for Rural Development, Francis Ngajokpa and to all the MLAs of Ukhrul district demanding completion of the road that connects over 18 villages in the north-eastern region of Ukhrul.
The statement said that the ongoing road construction work has fallen short of its requisite norms and further urged for compliance with the given guidelines.
Public in Sambu areas also expressed discontentment and said that the road is too narrow and would cause great hurdles to commuters during rainy season.
