Two held with stolen car

Two suspected vehicle lifters have been arrested by Thoubal district police along with a stolen car.
Meanwhile, another individual has also been arrested in possession of a stolen vehicle.
Briefing media persons at Lilong police station today, Thoubal SP Jogeshchandra Haobijam said that the two suspected vehicle lifters were pulled up one after another on Saturday, and one car was recovered.
Acting on a specific input, a team of Lilong police station led by OC Inspector N Tikendra Meitei apprehended one individual from Lilong Kaleikhong at around 4.15 pm of April 15 .
The individual has been identified as one Md Khamba (36) s/o Md Kabul of Mayang Imphal Bengoon.
One car (Hyundai i-20) was recovered from his possession.

In the course of investigation, the car's Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) was suspected to be tampered.
On being verified at Parivahan, the car was found registered in the name of one Md Mujibur (31) s/o Md Daulatun of Moijing Wangmataba, Jogeschandra said.
Further investigation revealed that the car was pawned to one Md Mustafa (28) s/o Abdul Salam of Santhel Awang Leikai on January 23 this year at Rs four lakh.
According to Md Khamba, Md Mustafa knew that the car was a stolen one.
He further disclosed that necessary arrangement for pawning the car was made by Md Khurshid Alam (35) s/o Md Bahaoddin of Santhel Makha Leikai.
Subsequently, Khurshid Alam was pulled up from his home at around 6.30 pm of April 15, the SP said.
In the meantime, one Md Abdul Matalip (43) s/o Md Nurumuddin of Sangaiyumpham Part 1 who entertained or accepted stolen vehicles was arrested from Lilong Khunou yesterday.
Abdul Matalip filed a report at Lilong police station saying that one Maibam Sharukh Khan alias Sanathoi (32) s/o Md Hakim stole a car (Maruti Swift) from in front of Lilong SBI branch on April 3 .
Acting on Matalip's report, a police team went to Sharukh Khan's residence on April 5 and they found a car (Maruti swift) there.
It looked like both the engine number and chassis number of the car had been tampered, Jogeshchandra said.
On being verified at Parivahan, the car was found registered in the name of Keisham Sanjit of Leirongthel Malom Maning Leikai, Yairipok.
When police contacted Sanjit, he informed that he bought the car from Eastern Motors on April 25 last year.
Even as Abdul Matalip was called to the police station for investigation of the case, he did not come nor did he give any satisfactory response, the SP said.
Although Maibam Sharukh Khan alias Sanathoi has gone into hiding, Abdul Matalip has been arrested, the SP said.
