Imphal, April 17 2023:
Once vociferous on the boundary issue, MP Dr RK Ranjan has lost his touch and failed to address the issue, said Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) today.
Addressing media persons at Rishang Keishing Media Centre at Congress Bhawan, MPCC vice president and senior spokesperson Hareshwar Goswami said Dr RK Ranjan, after becoming Minister of State for External Affairs, has been silent on the India-Myanmar boundary issue.
When Dr Ranjan was elected as a Member of Parliament from Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency, and was subsequently made the Minister of State for Education and External Affairs, people had high hopes, Goswami said.
He is an intellectual and people had placed their hopes in him that he would be vocal and action oriented in matters related to the State including the issue of boundary.
He had visited the India-Myanmar boundary and had first-hand knowledge of the dispute, said Goswami.

In 1982, in a journal, of which he was the editor, Dr Ranjan had written that Manipur had lost significant land between Border Pillar No 64 and 68 .
At that time, he had raised serious questions expressing concern on why Myanmar was demanding to exchange its Joro Khunou village with Manipur's Molcham.
He was vociferous then, however after becoming the Minister of State for Ministry of External Affairs, Dr Ranjan has failed to demonstrate the same strength and will to address the boundary issue.
So far, he has not acted on the issue, Goswami said.
Instead of acting to address the boundary issue, the blame has been put on the Congress for the dispute.
When the boundary issue was raised during the UPA Government, the boundary fencing work was stopped immediately.
The dispute has grown bigger with the arrival of the BJP Government in the Centre and the State, Goswami added.
MPCC vice president Tilotama Devi, who was also present in the press meet, asserted that the BJP has the habit of "lying and misinforming the people" . People should be aware of the BJP's propaganda politics.
All that the party does is change the names of schemes.
Changing English names to Hindi has caused great confusion among the people, she said.
"Rahul Gandhi had walked from Kanyakumari to Kashmir under Bharat Jodo Yatra recently.
Dr Ranjan had asked why didn't Rahul Gandhi reach the North East.
It was a right question to raise.
However, Rahul did not reach the North East considering the geographical conditions.
Congress loves the North East more than BJP does.
BJP's love for North East is only lip-service," Tilotama said.
She continued that the BJP has accused and charged the Congress of many things because they are not able to give answers to questions Rahul Gandhi had raised.
Congress welcomes BJP when it does good things.
However, under the BJP Government, prices of commodities have hit the roof.
BJP is losing its power and grip day after day, she added.
MPCC general secretary Md Amir Husain, City Congress Committee president Jayanand and other leaders were present in the press meet.
