Ukhrul, October 14 2021:
Leaders of Naga People's Front (NPF) Phungyar block under Kamjong district on Thursday resigned enmasse from their post and primary membership to join the saffron party.
The Phungyar Block leaders joined the BJP to support Hopingson A' Shimray, the BJP intending candidate for the upcoming Manipur State Assembly election.
As per a release issued by Khayao Hungyo, working president of NPF Phungyar division, at least 12 block leaders have submitted their resignation letter to the NPF Ukhrul division unit working president on October 14.In the letter, the leaders stated that in spite of their love for the NPF as a political party, they could not gather any legitimate points to compromise when the real builders who have invested all their strength in building the party were left as mere spectators and treated like outsiders by incumbent MLA of Phungyar AC.
The attitude of the MLA has compelled them to take the decision to quit NPF and join BJP for the betterment and in the greater interest of the people, it added.
It may be mentioned that Khayao Hungyo (working president) along with Hompam Hungshi (vice president), Thotsem Hungyo (vice president), Seimang Haokip (vice president), Rockson A Shimray (general secretary), Reddy Shishak (joint secretary), Wungnaokhan Shiro (press secretary), Rockson Kashung (president, farmer wing), SP Matuime (VP, farmer wing), SD Ninghor (secretary youth wing), Sochuingam Kashung (VP Youth wing, Ukhrul division) and MC Nganaomi (chairman, Advisory Board) have resigned to join the BJP.
