Free eye check up camps held

On the occasion of World Sight Day, a "Free Eye Check Up Camp" was held at Shija Eye Care Foundation, HealthVillage, Langol today organized by Lions Club of Imphal Leimarol (The International Association of Lions Clubs Dist: 322D) in collaboration with Shija Eye Care Foundation under Global Causes: Vision 21 .
A press release issued by Shija Eye Care Foundation stated that around 77 patients were examined for eye related problems in today's camp.
17 cataracts and 1 pterygium were diagnosed during the free camp and doctors along with other supporting staff of Shija Eye Care Foundation examined the patient.
Those patients detected with eye related problems will be treated under NPCB (NHM)/CMHT/PMJAY Scheme, added the release.
Lions Club
A free eye screening camp was held at Multipurpose Community Hall at Laipham Khunou Mayai Leikai in Imphal East district today.
The camp was organised jointly by Lions Club of Imphal, Lions Club of imphal North, Lions Club of Imphal Valley and Lions Club of Imphal Northern Hemisphere under the "Vision Awareness Programme" of Lions Clubs International in association with Laipham Khunou Youth Development Association, said a press release by the Lions Club.
Around 90 persons from the nearby area were checked by Lion (Dr) L Chaoba Singh.
Vice District Governor-I, Lion (Dr) W Gopimohan gave an awareness lecture and spoke on the need to give proper rest to eyes after prolonged reading, computer usage etc.
For a healthy eyesight, the need for proper diet and avoidance of alcohol and tobacco products was also emphasised, added the press release.
