Imphal, October 14 2021:
State Platform of Disabled People's Organisations (SPDPO), Manipur has submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister N Biren Singh expressing their disappointment with the lack of reservation for disabled people in the recent recruitment notices.
The organisation also sought his attention on the matter.
A press release issued today by SPDPO, Manipur stated that there is no trace of reservation for disabled persons in the recent recruitment notices of Autonomous District Council (ADC) and Directorate of University & Higher Education for 750 and 182 vacancies respectively.
This is in direct violation of the Right to Person with Disabilities Act 2016 which ensures reservation of not less than 4% for the disabled.
Despite a lot of hue and cry calling for proper implementation of RPWD Act 2016 in the State, the State is yet to act on this matter, added the statement.
It is worth noting that SPDPO, Manipur had recently submitted a memorandum to Union Minister Kumari Pratima Bhoumik, Social Justice Empowerment Govt of India.
