Police apprehend UKLF/UPF insurgents

Kakching, July 03 2021: Special team of CDO Kakching District arrested; two insurgents including the Organization Secretary UKLF/UPF (SoO group) along with arms and ammunition today.

A reliable information was received yesterday at around 9 pm that one Thangboi Haokip @ TL Jacob Thadou of Pheijang along with Khamminlen Mate of Pheijang village armed with firearms were loitering with an intention to extort in and around K Molnom village area and threaten and assaulted some of the villagers of the area, said a statement from the Office of the Superintendent of Police, Kakching District.

Hence a Suo Motto FIR case was registered against them under different sections of IPC and Arms act for further investigation, it added.

Further, a special team of CDO Kakching comprising of Sub Ksh Prakash Singh; SI L Rocky Singh; SI Parlung Arthur; SI Th Robindro Brown; Jemadar E Subhashandra Singh; Head Constable Kh Umakanta Singh and Hav Kh Achouba Singh were detailed under the command of Inspector Md Abash Khan, OC CDO Unit, Kakching and launched a search operation in the Molnom, Serou Lamkhai and Phaijang areas today.

During the operation, 2 persons namely- Thangboi Haokip (46) s/o Late Seijamang Haokip of Phaijang village, Chakpikarong, Chandel and Anthony Khammailen Mate (20) s/o Timothy Khangin Mate of Phaijeang village were detained at Phaijang village for verification.

Upon searching the residence of Thangboi Haokip, the following items were seized today at 6.10 am- one AK-47 Rifle with 3 magazines and 40 live rounds; one 12 bore pump action gun and 4 live rounds; one Vivo Mobile handset; two seal mark as (a) Chief/Chairman Phaijang Village Authority, CKG-Block, Chandel District, Manipur and (b) Secretary Phaijang Village Authority 's CKG-Block, Chandel District Manipur; one four wheeler Hyundai Creta (White) with Regn No MN04P-1849.The accused were arrested at 6.45 am by observing necessary formalities, it added.

Meanwhile, further enquiry revealed that Thangboi haokip has been extorting, threatening, harassing the villagers of K Molnom and Serou Lamkhai, etc.

Thangboi Haokip was also listed as TL Jacob Thadou, Organisation Secretary UKLF/UPF (SoO group).

He is also the Convenor, UPF in the Joint Monitoring Group (KMG) .
